• Castle Douglas sits directly on the A75, 18 miles west of Dumfries. From Gretna it is about an hour, and from Carlisle around an hour and a quarter. Glasgow is roughly an hour and three quarters, Edinburgh a little over two.
• The nearest railway station is Dumfries, about half an hour away, with connections to Carlisle and Glasgow. Buses run along the A75 corridor between Dumfries and Stranraer and stop here.
• Being on the main road makes this one of the easiest towns in the region to reach, and the town itself is walkable end to end.
